Hall of honor

Originally, it was planned that the entrance hall would be 15 meters high and about 90 meters long. However, before it was put into operation as an entrance building, a false ceiling was inserted. The upper part of the entrance hall, also known as the “Hall of honor”, has been partially destroyed since the installation of the false ceiling and can be visited as part of a guided building tour.

Wilhelm Busch it the shelter

Extensive air-raid shelters are located under almost all of the airport's administrative buildings, including Hangar 2. On many of the walls in the shelters there are well-preserved drawings worth seeing, which take up various motifs of Wilhelm Busch and were intended to cheer up the inmates.

THF Underground

The airport building is enormous in size, but not everything can be seen. Numerous hidden passages and tunnels run under the building and connect the individual parts with each other. Some of these places even tell their very own stories.

Film Bunker

The film bunker was built in late 1937 to safely store highly flammable and highly explosive aerial photographs on celluloid film. The traces of the over 1200 degree fire in 1945, which lasted several days, are still visible in the underground facility.
