Film Bunker

The film bunker was built in late 1937, early 1938 for Hansa Luftbild, a subsidiary of Deutsche Lufthansa. Since aerial photographs were still taken on celluloid film at that time and were very flammable and highly explosive, the material was not allowed to be stored in the building but in the two-story underground facility known as the “film bunker.” It is mainly located under the Columbiadamm street. Traces of a several-day fire in 1945 that reached over 1200 degrees are still visible.
