English Guided Tours
These tours of the airport building are available in English.
Tempelhof Airport is the largest architectural monument in Europe. The former airport impresses with its monumental architecture and reflects Berlin's eventful history. Built between 1936 and 1941, the building stands for the self-image of the National Socialists. In 1948/49, however, the airport also became a symbol of freedom thanks to the Berlin Airlift.
The “Tempelhof Myths” tour immerses you in the mythology surrounding Tempelhof Airport and provides detailed insights into its historical and architectural background. Experienced guides will take you on a tour in English to the most interesting places in the imposing building, from the former check-in hall to the areas used by the Americans to the transit bridges with a view of the now popular Tempelhofer Feld.
The “Hidden Places” tour takes you to the hidden places of Tempelhof Airport. Our guides provide moving insights in English into the traces of history that are still visible today – its use during the Nazi era and by the US Air Force from 1945 onwards, with intelligence activities during the Cold War.
The “THF in 60 minutes - short tour” provides facts and highlights significant events from the airport's history. Experience the historic check-in hall and the former transit corridor, which contribute to the unique atmosphere of this special place. Please note that this tour only provides a brief overview of the historical context.
