What is Tempelhof Airport?

The airport was built 100 years ago. Even before that, huge airships and small planes landed on the Tempelhof field.

The building, which is over a kilometer long, has been there for 80 years. It was built during the Second World War.

After the war, American soldiers were at the Tempelhof airport for almost 50 years. They organized the Berlin airlift.

From the Tempelhof airport, Berliners could also fly on vacation.

The Tempelhof airport has been closed since 2008. No planes fly here anymore.

Today, the Tempelhof airport is a monument that can be visited. For this, go to the CHECK-IN visitor center. There are also guided tours through the building.

There are regular events at the Tempelhof airport. In the future, the airport is to become a place with a lot of art and culture. A lot of building work has to be done for this. This is the task of Tempelhof Projekt GmbH.
