COMPLETE RENOVATION OF THE AIRPORT
In the past years, a variety of individual measures have been taken or are in progress, such as the West Head Building. This is on the one hand due to limited funds, and on the other hand to the fact that the complex, in view of its sheer size, has so far been understood as a conglomerate of individual buildings.
With increasing knowledge about the building and the extent of the existing deficiencies and tasks, the company is currently transforming it into a major construction project. Built and operated more or less as a solitaire, there are multiple interdependencies between the individual buildings. They share walls, they are connected by corridors and hallways, and they use the same supporting structures and technical infrastructures. The refurbishment of the building must therefore take certain sequences into account. Construction measures must be carried out in the right order and, in some cases, at the same time. In addition, pollutants have been installed in many places and must be disposed of properly. This makes the renewal and consequently the subsequent use complex. In addition, many areas are rented out and must be treated with high priority to ensure operational safety.
Comprehensive basic renovation is therefore inevitable. It must be integrated into a structured overall renovation concept, which is currently being developed.
