Extensive air-raid shelters are located under almost all of the airport's administrative buildings, including Hangar 2. On many of the walls in the shelters there are well-preserved drawings worth seeing, which take up various motifs of Wilhelm Busch and were intended to cheer up the inmates.

Film Bunker

The film bunker was built in late 1937 to safely store highly flammable and highly explosive aerial photographs on celluloid film. The traces of the over 1200 degree fire in 1945, which lasted several days, are still visible in the underground facility.

Hall of honor

The upper part of the entrance hall, also known as the “Hall of honor”, has been partially destroyed since the installation of the false ceiling and can be visited as part of a guided building tour.
